It’s easy to get swept away in the hustle and bustle of life, and a visit to Tarkil Branch Farm's Homestead Museum is a great way to slow down and take in the natural beauty that abounds around Duplin County. Tarkil Branch is a 375 acre working farm and an emblem of Duplin County’s agrarian heritage. Take a trip back in time and experience some history at their museum that features a completely furnished 1830's dog trot style house as well as 11 other vintage buildings containing exhibits, with over 850 artifacts from the past. You can also see some home cooking/food processing equipment that people used before electricity. If you are up for going for a hike, there are three different nature trails on the farm, each at least a mile long. They keep at least one of their trails open all year long.
