The website and guide have a compiled list of activities and attractions that are unique to North Carolina. Homegrown Handmade has gathered information on events such as the Muscadine Festival, farm sites like Tarkil Branch, art galleries, gardens, and more.
The focus of the site is to enlighten tourists and residents of the local goods, services, and attractions to promote business. The project was developed by The North Carolina Arts Council, North Carolina Cooperative Extension, HandMade in America, and Golden LEAF. Attention Eastern North Carolina, here is your chance to mingle and network with industry professionals and enjoy some of Duplin County’s finest attractions. The 2011 Tourism Mini-Summit is being held March 2 at River Landing Country Club. This event will consist of educational sessions with topics such as eco-tourism, sports marketing, attracting retirees, the Hertitage Tourism Project, film industry, and the gated community of River Landing.
Along with the mini-summit, there are other activities slated around the event. The night before, Duplin Winery will be holding a wine tasting. Immediately following the mini-summit, River Landing’s chef will be preparing a buffet of fresh seafood and Southern Cuisine. After lunch, choose one of three complimentary events of Buckner Hill Plantation/Liberty Hall Plantation tours, Country Squire/Duplin wine tastings, or a tour of the River Landing grounds. At your own leisure, enjoy a round of golf on River Landing’s award-winning course for a special discounted rate.

The Rose Hill Chamber of Commerce will be holding their Valentine’s Ball at Duplin Winery on Saturday, February 12th from 7PM to 11PM for $150.00 per couple. Duplin Winery will also have a Valentine’s Day dinner for club members at the Bistro Monday, February 14th from 6PM to 9PM. Tickets are $100.00 per couple. The Duplin website also has a variety of gift baskets available for order.
The Mad Boar Restuarant will be serving a special menu featuring Steak and Seafood from Friday, February 11th to Monday February 14th. Be sure to save room for dessert because chocolate molten cake is on the menu as well. The Mad Boar will also have specials on champagne and wine.
