A glass of Country Squire wine served with lunch @ The Country Squire is a perfect way to kick off a weekend getaway in Duplin County. Lunch at “The Squire”, as the locals refer to it, is a true dining experience. Be sure to take a tour of the place – it is very beautiful and quite unique plus be sure to sample their wine in their Tartan Tasting room! They’ve got fantastic menu items, including surf and turf. My personal favorite is the chicken teriyaki paired with a delicious glass of Country Squire’s own Highlander Cabernet/Merlot Blend.

After you’ve enjoyed your lunch, take a short drive over to Main St. towards Liberty Hall in Kenansville. You will immediately be transported to the antebellum south upon seeing the beautiful Greek revival plantation home of the Kenan Family. See the wedding dress from Mary Lily Kenan who married Henry Flagler in what was known as the "Wedding of the Century!"
Directly next to Liberty Hall is the Cowan Museum of History & Science. It’s fascinating to see the collections of artifacts and farming and woodworking tools used back in the 19th century, and what life was like then. Also, explore and relax in their Native Plant Garden.
